When I started playing Monster Hunter Frontier, there was two monsters who almost made me drop the game and give up on it.
The first one was Berukyurosu, one of the whiptalon flying Wyverns, between its damage, jank, shitzones and difficulty as a whole, I had a lot of trouble and was a bit scared about how the other monsters would be considering how that one was.
The second one was Pariapuria, because it was an uninteresting fight, with a Tigrex-ish monster who does nothing the entire fight but charge with fullbody hitboxes and pretty much nothing else. I had the same thought, thinking how are the other monsters going to be considering how garbage this one is.
What I ended up understanding, by not giving up on the game and getting to the peak of its difficult content is that Pariapuria really was just a joke monster, one who is the perfect base to setup some kind of monstrosity.
Enter Supremacy Pariapuria in HR6 and Thirsty Pariapuria in G Rank. Pariapuria's whole gimmick is that it is a repulsive glutton that eats basically anything in its way and rejects it with mucus, farts, vomit and other kinds of gross things. Sup/Thirsty Pariapuria is this taken to a whole new level ; an actually nightmarish looking Pariapuria that's much bigger and actually bloodthirsty.
This fight is one of the best "wtf" and surprise moment in the series, transforming an inoffensive and goofy monster into an actual terrifying battle.
And it's a great battle too, Thirsty Pariapuria, who is Supremacy but with a couple of new moves, is very satisfying to fight, it has some great sequences to dodge, and solid hitzones. What makes the fight truly hard is being stuck with this monstrosity in such a small and dark area, and being anywhere near a wall is mortal in this game, especially with how bad the camera is.
The most dangerous thing about Thirsty Pariapuria is that it is nearly always coated in its own vomit, which gives it different effects depending on the color. Red gives it significantly more attack, blue puts hunter to sleep with any sort of attack that makes contact, yellow is Paralysis, and purple is Poison. I think you can imagine how being put to Sleep or Paralysed against this thing basically spells cart sentence.
I dedicate this video to felix, a very gentle Renewal member and talented artist who works on guides to help people understand Frontier, and is the biggest Pariapuria fan out here. He joined me for this fun duo hunt where we decided to use Pariapuria weapons as an extra challenge, which... do absolutely nothing other than raw damage to Thirsty Paria, since it's immune to both water and all statuses beside Blast.
