10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord) - pipe organ, St Mewan Church, Aug. 2015
N.B. I have since re-recorded this (Jun. 2016) - see: • 10,000 Reasons - Bless the Lord (Matt Redm... for a newer and (I think) better version.
Instrumental cover of the contemporary Christian worship song "10,000 Reasons" ("Bless the Lord, O my soul"), written and composed by Jonas Myrin and Matt Redman, 2011 (see http://www.songlyrics.com/matt-redman... for the words - but add "I'll worship Your holy name / Yes, I'll worship Your holy name" to the end of the final chorus), played by Peter Tylor on the 1909 Hele pipe organ at St Mewan Church near St Austell, Cornwall (NPOR D08358), 14/8/2015.
This Psalm 103-inspired song is well known and highly popular (and deservedly so) in churches where guitars, drums etc. are the order of the day. However - as I hope my video shows - I think it can also be made to sound good on the organ in a more traditional setting, although some adjustments may be needed (I have not played the underlying accompaniment exactly as printed, although the original chord sequence is unchanged).
By the way, when I played this as an outgoing voluntary a little while ago, one lady in the congregation remarked that the tune sounded Scottish. She was not wrong - the chorus does indeed have something of a "Loch Lomond" lilt!
