Japan hosts 2nd Quad Summit; Sri Lankan crisis affecting health sector

The second in-person ‘Quad’ summit provided a fresh impetus to the Indo-Pacific-focused security alliance, which has been under the international media lens since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine armed conflict. The United Nations has expressed concern over what is unfolding in Taliban-ruled Afghanistan. The UN says the Taliban’s increasingly repressive decrees including the latest one that restricts women’s presence without Burqa in public space are not just the violation of the basic human rights but are depriving them of the fundamental rights of movement.(TS)
