The importance of the English period in Sindhi literature has been very high, because as soon as the British invaded and occupied Sindh, they made many important decisions in front of the tradition of the Sindhi language in order to gain quick benefits for themselves under the machinery system. These decisions were common on a public basis because they were the best administrators, so they declared the local Sindhi language as the official language to run the best system. When the Sindhi language had to be given the status of an official language, there was no authentic script for the Sindhi language. In order to deal with this lack, George Clerk planned a plan to create a script for the Sindhi language, which was created under the leadership of Mr. Ellis. And after that, how much literature was created in Sindhi language.

سنڌي ادب ۾ انگريزي دور جي اهميت تمام گهڻي رهي آهي، ڇو ته جيئن ئي انگريزن سنڌ تي حملو ڪري قابض ٿيا ته هنن مشينري سسٽم تحت پنهنجي لاءِ تڪڙا فائده حاصل ڪرڻ جي لاءِ سنڌي ٻوليءَ جي قدامت کي سامهون رکندي ڪيترائي اهم فيصلا ڪيا. اهي فيصلا عوامي بنيادن تي عام به هيا جو هو تمام بهترين منتظم هيا، جنهنڪري هنن بهترين نظام کي هلائڻ لاءِ مقامي سنڌي ٻوليءَ کي سرڪاري ٻوليءَ جو درجو قرار ڏنو. انهيءَ سنڌي ٻولي کي جڏهن دفتري ٻوليءَ جي حيثيت ملڻي پئي ته سنڌي ٻوليءَ کي ڪو مستند رسم الخط موجود نه هيوئ انهي کوٽ کي منهن ڏيڻ لاءِ جارج ڪلرڪ هڪ رٿ رٿي ته سنڌي ٻولي جي لپي ٺهرائي وڃي جيڪا مسٽر ايلس جي سربراهي ۾ ٺهي جڙي راس ٿي ۽ انهيءَ کانپوءِ ڪيترو ئي سنڌي ٻوليءَ ۾ ادب سرجيو ويو.
