In this video, Jeff, the electrician who roughed in the electrical wires for our kitchen remodel project returns to install a USB port electrical outlet at the end of the kitchen peninsula before FloForm arrived to install the countertops. Maybe it was the pressure for getting this done quickly that caused Jeff to miscalculate the depth of the electrical box needed for the USB port electrical outlet. Fortunately, he had a metal box in his truck that worked, with a few adjustments to the screw holes. But when he was finished and had left, we decided that the white outlet looked cheap mounted in a beautiful cherry cabinet. So, I went to Home Depot and purchased a black deco style USB port electrical outlet, returned home and swapped it with the ugly white outlet myself.
Background: Having spent four years of our retirement in a small ranch style house built in 1978, we were ready to remodel the worn-out farm style kitchen. But the timing was bad. We were in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and most contractors in the area were overbooked and unavailable, even for an estimate. Then one day as we again passed by Tim’s Custom Cabinets, located at a new round-about in a residential area, we stopped in to inquire if they could give us an estimate. A month later, we sat down with Tony, the owner of Tim's Custom Cabinets and signed a contract for a major kitchen remodel. As it turned out, this remodel project took excruciatingly long to complete and was extremely disruptive to our daily life.
The total cost: A lot of clams!
