On the House floor, Rep. Jim Walsh, R-Aberdeen, said lawmakers should be focused on one thing: affordability.
Walsh explained he voted against House Bill 1302 because he believes it would add to rising costs, even though he said the bill was well-intended. The measure would allow some organizations that share resources, energy or waste between businesses to get waivers on utility connection fees for certain properties.
“This bill, however well-intended, adds one more grain of sand to the scales of affordability,” Walsh said. “And those scales are tipping against the working people of this state.”
