ABOUT SEJAL:
Sejal Gupta is a Mumbai based Authorised Ashtanga Yoga Teacher, Speaker, Writer and Traveller. She has studied with Shri Sharath Jois, and makes annual trips to Mysore, India to practice to deepen her practice. She is an advanced level practitioner and student of Yoga, as well as a Level 1 Authorised Ashtanga Yoga Teacher from Sharath Yoga Centre.
The philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbkam”, has been imbibed in Sejal by her parents at a very early age. It means, the whole universe is one family. She has enjoyed a unique and offbeat upbringing which involved travelling, rural development, community living & natural farming. She was always encouraged to question concepts, dogmas, belief systems and develop her own sense of judgment. Her wide spectrum personality ranges from being a school drop out at one end and a post graduate in business management on the other.
She has diligently pursued her passion for yoga as a practitioner as she firmly believes that one who teaches must never cease to learn. This thought has always driven her toward in-depth training.
Her personal practice is based on the Ashtanga Yoga method. Sejal is an Authorised Level 1 - Ashtanga Yoga Teacher from Sharath Yoga Centre, Mysore, the birthplace of self mastery and a shrine for yogis around the world.
An ardent traveller, she conducts Yoga Workshops and Retreats in the USA, FRANCE and INDIA, bringing yoga to the world.
HER PRACTICE:
Sejal’s practice is based on the Ashtanga Yoga tradition.
In the yoga sutras, sage Patanjali defines Ashtanga as "eight-limbed yoga," According to him, the path of internal purification consists of the following eight spiritual practices:
Yama [moral codes]
Niyama [self-purification and study]
Asana [posture]
Pranayama [breath control]
Pratyahara [sense control]
Dharana [concentration]
Dhyana [meditation]
Samadhi [enlightenment]
These 8 ‘limbs’ are the road map for the practitioners to the divine union of mind, body and soul. A balance between the three eventually leads to liberation.
In tune with the Ashtanga philosophy, Sejal believes in understanding the physical and the mental capacities of the practitioner. Her ability to give people the right personal environment to practice, makes her unique. This helps her to master the art of how much to push an individual physically and mentally.
Being a student of the traditional Ashtanga Yoga practice and an Authorised teacher from Sharath Yoga centre, Sejal is committed to share the practice globally.
