Assisting the driver to avoid a crash or to mitigate the force when hitting something directly behind the vehicle is where Rear Automatic Braking comes into the Cadillac Active Safety feature.
Using Rear Park Assist ultrasonic sensors and short range radar that is located behind the rear bumper, the system will provide emergency braking when the car is traveling 0.5 to 20 mph in Reverse.
If the system stops the vehicle all the driver has to do is press the brake pedal to release the Rear Automatic Braking in their Cadillac. It's always best to check the Cadillac Rear Vision Camera before accelerating or deactivating the Electronic Parking Brake as well.
