A runner-up to Larry Bird the year prior, Seattle SuperSonics sharpshooting pioneer Dale Ellis rose to the top in 1989 for his first and only 3-Point Shootout title, taking down Chicago's Craig Hodges in the finals for top honors. Ellis went on to make seven 3-Point Shootout appearances between 1986 and 1998, second only to Hodges' eight.
