Is your child preparing for the Opportunity Class (OC) Placement Test? 🧠
The Thinking Skills section is often the most confusing part of the exam for parents and students. Unlike Maths or Reading, it tests a student's ability to apply logic, evaluate arguments, and solve complex problems under time pressure.
In this video, we break down exactly what the Thinking Skills test covers and provide a detailed roadmap on how to train for it.
THE 6 CORE AREAS OF THE TEST:
1. Finding Procedures: How to work out multi-step processes (e.g., calculating recipe limits or travel times).
2. Identifying Similarity: Recognizing logical relationships in data and 3D shapes (rotations, reflections, and nets).
3. Evaluating Evidence: Deciding which facts support a claim best.
4. Evaluating Reasoning: determining which character uses valid logic in "if-then" scenarios.
5. Identifying Mistakes: Spotting logical flaws, like confusing correlation with causation.
6. Logical Analysis: Deductive reasoning puzzles (e.g., ordering people in a row or seating arrangements).
HOW TO TRAIN FOR SUCCESS:
✅ breaking down word problems into manageable steps.
✅ Spatial reasoning drills (dice nets and 3D visualization).
✅ Spotting Logical Fallacies (Circular reasoning & necessary vs. sufficient conditions).
✅ Exam Techniques: Why speed matters (30 questions in 30 mins) and why you must attempt every question!
Think of this test like a mental obstacle course.
