Health authorities have introduced tighter restrictions for Victoria for New Year's Eve after three coronavirus cases broke the state's two-month streak without community transmission.
Three additional locally acquired cases were found on Thursday, in addition to three on Wednesday.
Acting Premier Jacinta Allan said Victorians 'deserve the right to mark what has been the most challenging year for all of us', but said the virus won't 'end at midnight tonight'.
Gatherings in private homes will be reduced from 30 to 15 people tonight and mandated mask-wearing outside the home from 5pm tonight.
