Описание: In this new video from The Time Then channel we will show you The Halifax explosion: The 1917 Canadian naval catastrophe that destroyed an entire city 🎥

The explosion was audible all throughout the planet. On December 6, 1917, two ships collided in the harbor of Halifax, Nova Scotia, a historic port city. The incident made international news. Accidents occurred in crowded seaports during times of war, but life continued. However, this time, something was different.

One of the vessels involved in the collision was the SS Imo, a Norwegian war-relief ship. The other was the SS Mont-Blanc, a corroding French tramp steamer that was loaded to the gunwales with about 3,000 tons of picric acid, TNT, and gun cotton as well as hundreds of barrels of high-octane benzol fuel stacked high on her deck.
