Well a new track to race, is it the same as the Springs, no, is it better, in some ways yes, in some ways no. Is it the only Open Wheel track north of Baypark and Kihikihi, 100% yes. Time to get over yourselves and support Speedway.
Had a great first heat race going 7th to 3rd, then misread the track after a heavy track watering pre-race in both the 2nd heat and feature. Starting on the outside row in both was quite a disadvantage that shouldnt exist if the watering and wheel packing were done correctly.
A real shame in the feature to spend two or three laps revving around in the slime while others had figured out it was a no-go zone, so thats on me. Left a bit of a sour taste in the mouth after such a good start to the night but we will return for Boxing Night and I am sure the track team got some good feedback. Hopefully it is applied and we can get the T1 T2 cushion moving up to the fence to really take advantage of the great work done by the Waikaraka team during the offseason.
