Hi, I am Daniel with etrailer, and today we're gonna take a look at the Yakima LowRider Kayak Trailer on our 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander. This trailer does have many leaf springs, so it's got a little bit of a suspension, meaning the ride's gonna be smoother, and this can support loads of up to 750 pounds. And there are gonna be two different kinds of these types of trailers. One with steel wheels like we have today, and then another one that's gonna have alloy wheels. This trailer's gonna be a great option if you're coming back from a long float and you're not wanting to lift your kayak back up on your roof of your Highlander. You may be tired from rowing all day.

So this is a lot lower of an option to put this back on and head home. And actually you don't have to lift it at all, because you can back this straight into the water, so you can actually float your kayak to where it needs to go. But realistically, you can use this trailer for any of the accessories you put on the top of your Grand Highlander, like a bike rack, cargo box, or even a rooftop 10. Not all clamp on accessories will work with these because they are pretty thick. I'll give you the measurements here so you can make sure yours will.

They are gonna be three inches wide, and the thickness of these is going to be an inch and a half, so make sure your checking on if your clamp on accessories are gonna work or not. But this also has T tracking here, so those accessories will work as well. Grand Highlanders are great vehicles, and it can easily tow this load. And what you're gonna need obviously is going to be a trailer hitch for your vehicle, a ball mount, we got an adjustable etrailer ball mount here today so we can make sure everything's level, and then you're gonna need your trailer wiring. So with the trailer pretty level, I'm gonna give you the measurement from the ground to the bottom of our coupler, which is about 17 and 1/4.

So that's gonna help you determine if you need a rise or a drop in your ball mount. Now, an easy solution is just getting adjustable in like we have today, but it is gonna be about a three inch rise is what you're gonna need for our setup here today. Now, we have a couple of add-ons on the front here that don't come included with the kit, like this spare tire here. This is always nice in case you blow a tire going down the highway. Now, this kickstand that has a wheel on it, it's also an add-on, but this is really nice to have as you can uncouple your trailer, put on the kickstand.

It's all nice and level and you can just wheel this into your garage when you're ready to store it. Another nice feature about this trailer is, it has lights. So when you're coming home from a really long float and it's night out, you're gonna want people on the road to know where you're turning. So as you can see, we got running lights, we got our brake signal, and we have left turn. And finally we have right turn.
