Poker players from all over the world have been out in force this week at the luxurious Chamada Prestige Hotel & Spa for the WPT Prime Cyprus Championship, and after five action-packed starting flights, only 173 players remain in the hunt for the title in Day 2 from a total of 1,391 entrants, with four players qualifying twice, leading to 177 players being paid.
Those figures generated a $1,349,270 prize pool, exceeding both the $1,000,000 guarantee and the 2024 edition.
All players in Day 2 are in the money, having secured a minimum cash of $1,940, and the reward for victory will be a huge $190,430 payday, a $10,400 seat to the WPT World Championship, and the coveted WPT Prime trophy.
Day 1A chip leader Kyprianos Kyprianou (1,286,000) could not be caught in the subsequent flights, with Day 1C front-runner Samer Sadaka (1,036,000) joining him as the only other player to breach seven figures.
Defending champion Tudor Purice (176,000) is also in the mix, as is 2023 WPT Prime Cambodia Championship winner Reiji Kono (120,000).
