Tor + Forensic OSINT: Quick Setup — Route Chrome Through Tor (Windows/macOS/Linux)

Описание: Forensic OSINT + Tor — Quick Setup (2A: Tor Browser as local proxy)
Learn how to quickly route Google Chrome through the Tor network so you can capture .onion evidence with the Forensic OSINT Chrome extension. This video walks through the entire 2A quick setup: install Tor Browser, create a Tor-enabled Chrome launcher (Windows/macOS/Linux), and verify your session.

SPECIAL NOTE:
The quick proxy method shown in this video is helpful for fast checks and learning, but it is NOT the most secure approach for investigative or evidentiary work.

It routes only Chrome through Tor and can leave other leak paths open if the host or browser is compromised.

For real investigations, we strongly recommend the Whonix Gateway + isolated Investigation VM workflow (full instructions, screenshots, and security notes are in the guide): https://www.forensicosint.com/tor

Please follow the guide for step-by-step secure setup and evidence-handling best practices.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
QUICK COMMANDS (copy for each platform)

macOS (run in Terminal):
/Applications/Google\ Chrome.app/Contents/MacOS/Google\ Chrome \
--proxy-server="socks5://127.0.0.1:9150" \
--host-resolver-rules="MAP * ~NOTFOUND, EXCLUDE localhost"

Linux (run in Terminal):
google-chrome \
--proxy-server="socks5://127.0.0.1:9150" \
--host-resolver-rules="MAP * ~NOTFOUND, EXCLUDE localhost"

Windows (create shortcut Target field):
"C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --user-data-dir="C:\TorChromeProfile" --proxy-server="socks5://127.0.0.1:9150" --host-resolver-rules="MAP * ~NOTFOUND, EXCLUDE localhost" --proxy-bypass-list="localhost;127.0.0.1"

IMPORTANT: Start Tor Browser and leave it running before launching Chrome with these flags. If Chrome is already running, new windows will attach to the first process and may inherit (or not inherit) the proxy settings — see video for isolation guidance.
