Maharashtra State Election Commission has ordered a probe into reports of unopposed elections of candidates in the State for the municipal corporation elections to be held on January 15. The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance has secured an early advantage in the Maharashtra municipal corporation elections, winning 68 seats unopposed just days before polling for the remaining wards. The unchallenged victories come less than two weeks ahead of voting scheduled for January 15 across 29 municipal corporations in the state, with results to be declared on January 16.
