KYIV WATER CRISIS: Blackouts Knock Out Pumps, Residents Scramble for Water | Times Now World

Описание: Residents of Kyiv were forced to collect water from public supply points after power outages disrupted pumps and left homes without running water, footage filmed on October 13 showed. Locals were seen filling plastic bottles and large containers from public hoses as concerns mounted over the impact of prolonged blackouts and freezing temperatures on water supplies ahead of winter. Ukrainian officials have blamed Russian strikes on the country’s energy infrastructure for the electricity disruptions, warning that freezing conditions could also cause pipes inside residential buildings to freeze. The shortages come amid uncertainty over a proposed Russia-Ukraine energy ceasefire. US President Donald Trump announced on October 11 that an agreement had been reached to halt attacks on energy infrastructure, but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia had continued striking Ukrainian energy facilities. Zelensky said Kyiv was prepared to stop attacking Russian energy infrastructure if Moscow reciprocated, while the Kremlin has not confirmed that a ceasefire agreement is in place.
