Uma grande parte do território do município encontra-se dentro de uma zona da Rede Natura 2000 da União Europeia, representadas por uma Zona de Proteção Especial para as espécies de aves estepárias ameaçadas como a abetarda e o peneireiro-das-torres.
As fronteiras do município são marcadas nas bermas das estradas que conduzem até aos limites do território com o logotipo do município - o marco do município - "Uma janela sobre a planície".
