VIDEO CONTENTS:
[0:00] Introduction
[1:26] Yarn Prep
Soak the yarn in hot water with some dish soap for 30 minutes
[2:45] Mordanting the yarn
20 g Potassium Aluminum Sulfate per 100 g of yarn
Just ALum mordant
400 g yarn - 80 g alum
12 qt pot with 16 cups hot tap water
With cream of tartar:
100 g yarn - 20 g alum, 6 grams cream of tartar
8 qt pot with 6 cups hot tap water in it
Dissolved powders into boiling water before transferring them to pots

Bring to just below a boil over 45 min, keep at that temp for ~ 1 hour. Turn off the heat and cool 30 minutes or overnight
[6:10] Cochineal Extract
[7:32] Measure out the cochineal extract
measure out 1 gram 3 times (1 g per 100 g yarn)
[9:36] Dyeing with cochineal (Alum vs Alum + cream or tartar mordants)
Just Alum Mordant - 8 cups of water + 1 g cochineal + 100 g yarn
[15:18] What might I expect to see?
[16:43] Heating the yarn
turn off heat and cool in pot for 30 minutes
[19:09] Removing the yarn
[21:20] Dyeing yarn with Cochineal + Iron
2 g iron dissolved in hot water. similar conditions to above. (yarn in just alum mordant
[24:47] pH test
[26:12] Back to the iron yarn
[29:12] The yarn all together
[30:00] Washing the yarn
[33:14] The finished dry yarn and conclusions
