In this video, we tackle a problem from the 1995 Putnam Exam concerning an infinite nested rational expression. Ultimately, this involves a 16th degree polynomial which we will have to solve. I did it by a few square root extractions and properties of the integers.
I end with a comment about quadratic fields, which is a special kind of field that is closed under square roots.
