The East Lancashire Railway held their Autumn Steam Gala in October 2025 which this year had an London Midland and Scottish Railway flavour to it. Visiting locomotives were:
FR A5 0-4-0 No 20 from the Ribble Steam Railway.
LMS Stanier Mogul 2-6-0 No 13268 from the Severn Valley Railway.
LMS Ivatt 2MT 2-6-0 No 46441 from The Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway.
0:00 We begin at Bury Bolton Street and one locomotive not taking part in the Gala is SR Light Pacific 4-6-2 No 34081 92 Squadron which is awaiting overhaul.
0:10 LMS 2MT 2-6-0 No 46441 and BR 4MT 2-6-4T No 80097 make a smokey departure from Bury with a service to Rawtenstall.
1:26 LYR Class 23 0-6-0ST No 11456 departs Bury with a service for Heywood.
2:33 Entering Bury with Empty Coaching Stock is LMS Jinty 0-6-0T No 7138 and LYR Class 27 0-6-0 No 13233 (Running as scrapped classmate No 12345).
3:06 LMS Jinty No 7138 at Bury. The engine has recently been repainted into its LMS Livery. We also see LYR Class 27 No 12345 at Ramsbottom. The engine was built in 1896, was withdrawn in 1962 as No 52345.
3:26 From the bridge at Ramsbottom, we see LMS 2MT 2-6-0 No 46441 arrive with a service to Heywood. BR 4MT 2-6-4T No 80097 is on the rear.
4:32 LMS Jinty 0-6-0T No 7138 and LYR Class 27 0-6-0 No 12345 depart Ramsbottom with a service for Rawtenstall.
5:47 FR A5 0-4-0 No 20 arrives at Ramsbottom with the Vintage Train comprising of an Inspection Saloon and Queen Alexandra's Royal Saloon. Britain's oldest working Standard Gauge Locomotive then departs to move into the sidings.
7:29 LMS Jinty 0-6-0T No 7138 and LYR Class 27 0-6-0 No 12345 arrive back into Ramsbottom with a service for Heywood.
8:19 LYR Class 23 0-6-0ST No 11456 arrives into Ramsbottom with a service for Rawtenstall. With the right period coaches, this shot wouldn't look out of place in the days of the big four.
9:14 At Rawtenstall, we see MSC 0-6-0T No 32 Gothenburg which has recently been repainted in Manchester Ship Canal grey livery. The engine is next seen running up and down the platforms whilst being used for Driver Experiences.
10:25 LYR Class 23 0-6-0ST No 11456 runs round its train at Rawtenstall.
10:51 Staying at Rawtenstall, we see LMS Ivatt 2MT 2-6-0 No 46441. Built in 1950, she was withdrawn in 1967 and is preserved at The Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway. The engine is finished in BR Maroon livery which was only worn by LMS Stanier Pacifics in service days. With 80097 on the rear, the Red Ivatt departs towards Heywood.
12:36 LMS Stanier Mogul 2-6-0 No 13268 arrives into Rawtenstall. The engine is visiting from the Severn Valley Railway.
13:39 LYR Class 27 0-6-0 No 12345 arrives into Ramsbottom with a service for Rawtenstall. LMS Stanier Mogul 2-6-0 No 13268 waits with its train.
14:09 Back at Bury. FR A5 0-4-0 No 20 and LYR Class 23 0-6-0ST No 11456 depart towards Ramsbottom with The Vintage Train.
15:17 We next move to the yards at the Bury Transport Museum where LYR Class 21 Pug 0-4-0ST No 11243 is busy performing Shunting demonstraitions. Wagons shunted include a Shell Oil Tanker, An LNWR 4 Plank Wagon, LYR & BR Vans and a LYR 5 Plank Coal Wagon.
20:15 LYR Class 27 0-6-0 No 12345 passes by the museum with its service for Heywood.
20:55 With its duty over, LYR Class 21 Pug 0-4-0ST No 11243 heads back to the shed for the night. The engine was sharing shunting duties with 0-4-0ST No 1969 J.N. Derbyshire.
21:35 LMS Jinty 0-6-0T No 7138 and LMS Ivatt 2MT 2-6-0 No 46441 passes the museum with a service foe Heywood. This shot wouldn't look out of place in the 1980s.
22:27 LYR Class 27 0-6-0 No 12345 departs Bury with a service for Heywood.
23:30 We end with LMS Stanier Mogul 2-6-0 No 13268 running through the station towards Bury Shed for servicing.
