A devastating Kalbaisakhi storm struck Kiaj village in Karanjia block, Mayurbhanj, causing massive destruction and leaving over 10 people injured.
The sudden storm brought extremely strong winds that blew away roof sheets, destroyed house structures, and broke large tree branches across the area. Several electric poles were also uprooted, disrupting power supply in the region.
Residents reported that more than 70+ houses suffered damage as the storm hit around midday with intense rainfall and powerful gusts. The cyclone‑like winds were so strong that vehicles on the road were lifted and thrown, and some bikes and people were tossed into nearby fields and water bodies.
One auto‑rickshaw was blown off the road and fell into a pond, highlighting the severity of the storm.
All injured people have been rushed to Karanjia Medical Centre, and authorities fear the number of injured may rise as rescue efforts continue.
