GoPro cameras as awesome. Check out this head mounted video of me landing a nice fish in Wyoming.
Tension cast to fish feeding right off a shelf in heavy ripples that goes into a deeper pool.
When you set the hook you lift just over your left shoulder in this situation because of the side of the river I was on. If I where on the other side of the river I would set over my right shoulder. If you think always set slightly down stream you can't go wrong. with your rod angle slightly down stream
Keep your rod angle slightly down stream with a good bend allowing for the tip to absorb the head shakes and runs.
When the fish jumps slightly lower your rod angle down stream of the fish this allows the fish to clear the water without you applying a bunch of pressure so the hook doesn't pull from the fishes mouth. If you where to keep full tension on the fish when he jumps your chance go way up that that fish will spit the hook.
Once the fish is back in the water keep constant steady pressure and try and steer the trouts head away from danger in this case a rock wier. Walk careful to try and get even with or below the fish. I always try to stay as close to the fish as possible the farther the fish gets away from you the more chance you have of losing the fish. Guide the fish into calmer water remembering to keep your rod angle slightly down stream as the fish tires turn your rod tip up to the 12 o'clock position and lift the head. As you lift the head slide your net into position with your off hand. As your lifting steer the head of the trout right into your net. Lift up on the net after you steer the fish in be careful to not lift the net fully out of the water bigger fish will tend to flip out. I have found net half in the water keeps the fish more calm and the tension of the water keeps them from jumping out. Joeshaferflyfishing.com
