NIA Team Visits Beldanga Police Station to Record Witness Statements in Violence Case

A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrived at Beldanga Police Station on Friday to record the statements of witnesses in connection with the Beldanga violence case.

The case relates to the unrest that erupted in Maheshpur, Beldanga, on January 16, following allegations surrounding the mysterious death of a migrant worker from Beldanga in Jharkhand.

The incident led to widespread protests, with demonstrators blocking the national highway and railway tracks for nearly 30 hours. The following day, fresh protests, road blockades, and vandalism were reported at Barua More in Beldanga.

The NIA later took over the investigation and has visited Beldanga several times as part of its probe. A total of 35 people were arrested in connection with the violence, of whom 15 were granted bail in April.

After completing their work at the police station on Friday, NIA officials visited a roadside hotel near the national highway at Barua More, where they questioned hotel employees as part of the ongoing investigation.
