Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is restoring a piece of Texas coastal planes right in the heart of suburbia. On land that was once a sod farm and a fish hatchery extensive work has been done to return the land to what it once was, wet lands.
At Sheldon Lake State Park wildlife experts are proving that it is not to late to turn back the clock and save a little of what was once millions of wildlife habitat but is now covered up by the wants and desires of man.
The Texas coast is under a continual threat by huge storms coming in off of the Gulf of Mexico and for millennia the coastal wetlands absorbed most of a storms energy, now that most of the coastal wetlands are gone a hurricane does way more damage. At Sheldon Lake State Park you can see firsthand at how beautiful things once were.
