Archaeological research design entails the explicit planning of an archaeological project, including the selection of data sources, methods, theoretical perspectives, and research questions. This video describes some of the basic varieties of archaeological research designs, ranging from relatively simple descriptive designs to more complex ones associated with experimental archaeology, and also introduces basic sampling, which is discussed in more detail in another video.
