In Denver Public Schools, we have a deep awareness of the role a student’s social and emotional well-being is in their academic success. We also recognize that a huge part of nurturing the Whole Child – one of the key components to Denver Plan 2020 – is understanding a student’s home life and their own aspirations for the future.
With a focus on collaboration and discussing those critical topics, several schools are participating in the Parent Teacher Home Visit (PTHV) program – which connects families to their student’s teacher in a familiar setting: their own homes. At the heart of the program is a goal to build a strong and positive relationship between the family and the school and, as a result, create a better chance of success for students.
