Описание: Wild mushrooms are everywhere and Aaron Hilliard of the Kitsap Peninsula Mycological Society takes us for a stroll to see what kinds of fungi are growing in his neck of the woods. Among the many edible mushrooms in this video, the "Candy Cap" or Lactarius rubidus, is a very sought after mushroom for its sweet, maple syrup-like odor and confectionary properties. We will observe a large patch of these mushrooms and become familiar with their morphology and habitat. If you’d like to dive a little deeper you can sign up for the 3 part intro to mycology course at the Olympic College in Bremerton. This is a non-credit class for personal enrichment. Aaron instructs the class in person, which covers what fungi is, how it grows, and its relationship to the world around it. The second class covers introduction to wild mushrooms and mushroom identification, and the third class goes over fungi cultivation and the history of mycological sciences and taxonomy. There is usually a foray into the woods for students who have attended the 3 classes. The classes are only offered in person right now, but they may be made into an online version soon.
