Ever felt like the way you read is different, or weird, or just not right? Ever felt like you’re cheating if you listen to an audiobook, or ashamed because you really don’t understand that book that everyone else seems to understand, or guilty because you don’t really like that writer that everyone else seems to adore? Then this is the video for you. What makes a reader, and what reading actually even is, is a lot more complicated than you might suppose. Reading is a difficult act to define in any certain terms, and really understanding this - that there is no ‘right’ way to be a reader - is a truly liberating realisation, one that encourages you to challenge and explore your preconceptions about yourself, how you learn, how you communicate, and how you relate to others.

This is a video about how and why we read; about the power of reading and the power of perspective. Reading is communal, political, radical; and it goes far, far beyond the edges of your bookshelf.
