Songs used: The Birch Tree
Sequence of teaching events: Students sing the tone set for Birch Tree, sing phrase one from the tone set, sing phrase one from standard notation, sing the whole song on solfege, students place pre-made cards (standard notation) in order of how they are sung in the song, students are allowed to rearrange the form of the song and sing through.
This sequence of teaching can be found in Kodály in the Fourth Grade Classroom from the Kodály Today handbook series by Mícheál Houlahan and Philip Tacka, pages 90-94, 276-279.
