Spectacular Ford GT40 Le Mans ‘69 revival featuring Jacky Ickx
Sint-Agatha-Berchem, 30 September 2019 – The Spa-Francorchamps race track was the backdrop for an unforgettable homage to the Ford GT40’s fourth consecutive victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in 1969.
None other than Jacky Ickx (who drove the Ford to victory with partner Jackie Oliver in 1969) flagged three generations of Ford GT40 and GT in distinctive 'Number 6' Gulf colours over the finish line. As in the legendary Le Mans 1969, the three 'winning' cars started last (in this instance, behind no less than 69 additional Ford GT40/GT models) to finish first. And the Ford GT40, which was first to cross the finish line, was driven by Jacky’s daughter, Vanina Ickx.
