Since 1918, annual parades of the Red Army have taken place on May 1, the day of international workers' solidarity, since from birth it was a Workers' and Peasants' Army and workers and peasants served in it. The first took place in 1918, not only on Red Square but on Khodynskoye Field. In 1919 - already as expected even with tanks.
On May 1, 1941, the military attache of Germany, General Ernst-August Köstring, and the first deputy were present at the parade. Attaché Colonel Hans Krebs - propagandists love to spin this fact. Here, they say, they welcomed the Nazis. Although there were attaches from all countries. The tradition of holding military parades in Moscow on May 1 continued until 1968 (except for the period 1942-1944).
Until 1991, parades on Red Square were also held annually on the anniversary of the October Revolution - November 7. But on Victory Day there were only four - in 1945, 1965, 1985, and 1990.
