A year or so old Suhr Standard Plus came for some fine tuning (and more, of course)
Few facts: excellent vibrato by Gotoh, well balanced, bit heavier inertia block, stainless steel heavy frets, very thin ("roasted" maple) neck with pau ferro fingerboard, Suhr locking tuners.
Body is basswood with flamed maple cap. Pickups are alnico vintage '60s with alnico 5 SSH+ in bridge position. Guitar is noise free (60 Hz hum) with dummy coil inside body, Suhr calls that "SSCII" system. Instead normal 5 way switch mega switch is installed.
Guitar price is around 3500 €.
This is very fine instrument, excellent for both studio and gigs but is overpriced, especially considering that is made from basswood.
I chose three quite complex songs to see how guitar will respond to different pickup combinations.
Strings are NYXL 10-46
Played thru small tweaked 20 Watt Marshall Valvestate 20 with studio delay in some parts.
This is a kind of homage to Jeff Beck and his approach to this well known Irish song. Back in '90s I played version by The Christians, hit known by name "Words". I also used to play Mike Oldfield's version with my son, as "dual lead" in style of Wishbone Ash.
