The British Army's most lethal and most survivable MBT to date, the Challenger 3 is equipped with cutting-edge armor protection, destructive firepower, and an astounding array of state-of-the-art capabilities.

Trials, notably ones conducted in Germany, have already shown the capabilities of the initial prototypes. Before 140 Challenger 3 units are constructed and given to the British Army, all prototypes will undergo operational testing to verify their functionality and make necessary adjustments.

The most advanced predator in contemporary combat will be the Challenger 3. With superior defense, mobility, and firepower, it will be able to control the battlefield. The 120 mm smoothbore gun of the Challenger 3 has a faster muzzle velocity and more penetration than the Challenger 2's, allowing it to achieve velocities of up to 60 km/h.

Challenger 3 is one of the best-protected MBTs in Europe thanks to its Active Protection System, which can quickly identify and neutralize rocket and missile assaults, and its state-of-the-art modular armor. It is scheduled to continue until 2040.

Challenger 3 is essential to the Army's warfighting capabilities and the UK's contribution to NATO. It will form the basis of the Armored Brigade Combat Team, along with the Ajax and Boxer ranges. With around 300 employment created within RBSL, including 130 engineers and 70 technicians, and an additional 450 jobs throughout the UK, the Challenger 3 program is being carried out under a contract for £800 million (US$1.3 billion).

New components installed on the prototype and scheduled to be installed on 148 Challenger 3 MBTs include a digital turret, a vision system for both day and night targeting, a Trophy Active Protection System module from Rafael Advanced Defense System, and a 120 mm Rheinmetall smoothbore gun.

More potent engines and the installation of a third-generation hydro gas suspension system are further mobility enhancements. It is said that the Challenger 3's development represents advancements in the three areas of the upgrade triangle: mobility, firepower, and protection.
