🚀 Welcome to Botronix Labs! 🚀
🎮 Module 8: Joystick Control for Manual Operation | Raspberry Pi Pico Robotic Arm Course
Welcome to Module 8 of the Botronix Labs Raspberry Pi Pico Robotic Arm Series! In this hands-on session, we introduce the HW-504 analog joystick module and demonstrate how to control your robotic arm manually — a key stepping stone toward teleoperation and real-time robot control.
🔍 What You’ll Learn in This Module:
How the joystick works: potentiometers, analog voltage, and built-in push button
Understanding ADC (Analog to Digital Conversion) on the Raspberry Pi Pico
Reading and interpreting analog values using MicroPython
Mapping analog values to servo angles
Implementing real-time servo control using live joystick input
Applying dead zones to eliminate unwanted jitter
Using the joystick to smoothly rotate the base servo
(Mini Challenge) 🧠: Control the base rotation with smooth movement logic!
🛠️ Hardware Used:
Raspberry Pi Pico
HW-504 Joystick Module
Servo Motors
Breadboard and jumper wires
📦 Code and Resources:
All source code and wiring diagrams are available on our official website: 🔗 www.botronixlabs.com
📚 This module builds on:
Module 6: Controlling individual servos
Module 7: 4-DOF robotic arm assembly and smooth sweeping
🔔 Don’t forget to subscribe to Botronix Labs and enable notifications so you won’t miss the next module — where we’ll expand control to multiple servos using one or two joysticks, introduce mode switching, and explore creative control strategies.
