A radical idea is being put forward to fine parents who defame teachers and principals online.
The chair of a Victorian education complaints authority is calling for parents who defame school teachers online to face a $1000 fine.
The penalty was floated by Victoria's Independent Office for School Dispute Resolution chair Frank Handy as research shows offensive behaviour by parents and caregivers towards school staff continues to escalate.
