Si la musique de Yes est souvent considérée comme ardue, leur album "Tales From Topographic Oceans" de 1973 y est pour beaucoup.
Il s'agit d'une suite de quatre longs mouvements (plus de 15 minutes chacun) dont la structure est très travaillée et déroute souvent les auditeurs. Chacun des mouvements est construit en différents thèmes qui sont exposés, développés et réexposés en s'entrecroisant, s'enrichissant les uns les autres.
Nous avons essayé ici de rendre cette structure plus apparente en constituant trois parties qui se répondent les unes aux autres (sans jamais utiliser deux fois le même passage musical, bien entendu...).
Nous espérons que cette adaptation de 55 minutes vous aidera à appréhender cette oeuvre magistrale avant de plonger dans le grand bain : les 82 minutes de l'album original.

Pour les connaisseuses et connaisseurs
Certains voient en "Tales from Topographic Oceans" le sommet de ce groupe qui n'a reculé devant aucune montagne, fût-elle en apparence inaccessible ;
d'autres pensent que c'était l'expérimentation de trop, qui a fait franchir au groupe les portes du délire le plus décomplexé.
Nous souhaitons offir, aux uns comme aux autres, une redécouverte différente de cet album à nul autre pareil...

For those who are discovering
If the music of Yes is often considered arduous, their 1973 album 'Tales From Topographic Oceans' has a lot to do with it.
It is a sequence of four long movements (more than 15 minutes each) whose structure is very worked and often confuses the listeners. Each of the movements is built up into different themes that are exposed, developed and re-exposed by intertwining, enriching one another.
We have tried here to make this structure more apparent by making three parts that respond to each other (without ever using the same musical passage twice, of course...).
We hope that this adaptation of 55 minutes will help you to apprehend this masterful work before diving into the deep: the 82 minutes of the original album.

For connoisseurs
Some see in 'Tales from Topographic Oceans' the summit of this group which has not backed down from any mountain, even seemingly inaccessible;
others think that it was the experimentation beyond the edge, which made the group cross the gates of delirium definitely uninhibited.
We wish to offer, to some as to others, a different rediscovery of this album like no other...
