In this video, me and Timothy finish off our day outing at my favourite Thameslink core station, London Blackfriars.
London Blackfriars is a Network Rail operated station, with 4 platforms, and is served by Thameslink, and very rarely Southeastern.
Station History: The station opened on May 30th 1886 as St Paul’s by the London, Chatham and Dover Railway, as replaced the first station, Blackfriars Bridge station, which is now part of the Southern entrance to the station we see today. This helped increase the capacity of traffic through the Snow Hill Tunnel. The station was renamed to London Blackfriars in 1937 on the 1st of February. In 2012 it was then rebuilt to how it is today, to help increase capacity for the station.
The three letter station code is BFR.
