I recently aqcuired a nice little Marlin 39-A Original Golden .22 rimfire lever-action rifle. In this video I will be comparing it to an older model 39-A. These are all American classic .22 caliber rifles, and are much sought after by shooters, hunters, and collectors.
Here is a list of identifying marks so that you can research your Marlin's year of manufacture; L=1935, no letter=1936-1940, B=1941, C=1945, "c"=1946, D=1947, E=1948, F=1949, G=1950, H=1951, J=1952, K=1953, L=1954, M=1955, N=1956, P=1957, R=1958, S=1959, U=1960 to August of 1961, V=1961 to August 1962, W=1963, Y,Z=1964, AA=1965, AB=1966, AC=1967, AD=1968, 69=1969, 70=1970, 71=1971, 72=1972, then starting in 1973 just subtract the first two numbers or digits from 100 to get the year of manufacture. Ex. 24XXXXX would be the year 1976.
