I tested PA power Mosfets of ADX Arduino digital modes transceiver against high SWR conditions with one 1 watt / 47V zener diode and it worked!
Usdx and ADX uses similar class E amplifiers so I was thinking that this simple zener method should work on any usdx.
In this video I am demonstrating PA mosfet high SWR protection with one zener diode that actually works for usdx PA mosfets too.
For this test I am using one of my own usdx design, usdx mOnO.

Test is based on extreme SWR condition which is “no antenna” condition.
Zener diode is 47V/1W 1N4756.
To protect PA mosfets solder Cathode of zener diode to BS170 mosfets Drain and Anode of zener diode to Ground. That’s all!
Zener diode has internal capacitance which degrades efficiency of Class E PA a bit which is worth the benefit in my opinion. Enjoy!
