On March 21, 1946, Timothy Dalton was born into a mixed-race English and American household in Colwyn Bay, Wales. Although he was born and raised in England, Dalton was legally awarded U.S. citizenship since his mother was American and his father was a British intelligence officer, a disciplined and moral man who had served in the Special Operations Executive (SOE) during World War II.
Dalton was not the kind of youngster who dreamt of the stage or the bright lights of Hollywood, having grown up in a home with an intelligent father. Like his father, he aspired to be a powerful man—a pilot, a soldier, or maybe a real-life spy. Since young Dalton was always drawn to a life of self-discipline, accuracy, and practical action, no one anticipated that he would become an actor.
In order to prepare for a career in the military or aerospace sector, Dalton participated in an Air Cadet training program as a teenager. He had always envisioned himself as an astronaut, participating in space exploration from the blue skies to expeditions beyond of Earth's atmosphere. Dalton thought he was meant to go down that route.
However, destiny had other ideas.
