Landing at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) felt like coming home. I’ve travelled to many countries, but Kuala Lumpur remains my favourite city on earth, and every time I return I'm reminded why I genuinely want to move to Malaysia one day. The moment I stepped out of the airport, I could feel the familiar humidity, hear multiple languages being spoken, and see the calm efficiency of Malaysian life. KLIA is incredibly organised, especially when it comes to transportation. Booking a taxi or Grab is super easy here – there are dedicated counters, clear signage, fair pricing, and an overall system that makes arriving in Kuala Lumpur stress-free, even during peak hours.

Straight away, I jumped in a car and spoke to the driver about being English, and of course, the topic turned to English football. One thing I love about Malaysians is how friendly and curious they are. They’re welcoming, humorous, and love football more than you would expect. Malaysia is such an easy place for travellers, expats, and Muslims from around the world to feel comfortable.

Arriving at my apartment complex reminded me again why I want to live here. For around £40 a night, you can get a modern, clean apartment in the centre of the city, complete with swimming pools, security, and a rooftop gym overlooking KL. Malaysia has this amazing balance of comfort, affordability, and lifestyle. You can live a luxury lifestyle for cheap, or as Malaysians would say: hidup mewah tapi murah.
We headed straight to breakfast, and I had the most beautiful fruit oat bowl and French toast. Presentation in Malaysia is unreal, even in small spots. Food prices vary – you can eat for cheap, or choose higher-end options – but the value is always strong. Eating out daily is normal here, and it’s one of the reasons I want to move. Life feels less stressful, more convenient, and more enjoyable.

Next, we visited the Petronas Twin Towers, one of the most iconic landmarks in Southeast Asia. Standing at 452 metres, they were once the tallest buildings in the world and still remain the tallest twin towers globally. More than a tourist attraction, they symbolise Malaysia’s growth, identity, and multicultural ambition. Around the towers is KLCC Park, where we walked, relaxed, and drank ice-cold mango drinks under the sun – a simple moment that made me appreciate KL’s lifestyle even more.
Nearby is a mosque in the park, and walking inside was emotional. The architecture was breathtaking, and seeing children praying and families attending reminded me how beautiful Islam in Malaysia is. There is a deep sense of community here, and as a Muslim, it’s one of the biggest reasons I want to live in Malaysia. There is halal food everywhere, easy prayer access, and a supportive culture, making daily life as a Muslim so much easier compared to many Western countries.

For dinner, we headed to Jalan Masjid India, one of the most vibrant Muslim areas in Kuala Lumpur. We ate nasi lemak, Malaysia’s national dish – fragrant coconut rice served with sambal, peanuts, anchovies, cucumber, and often fried chicken or beef rendang. It’s simple, cheap, delicious, and something you’ll find everywhere from street stalls to upscale restaurants. The markets here are packed with locals running small Muslim-owned businesses, selling clothes, food, jewellery, and everything in between. The energy is intense, in the best way.

We later explored the Suria KLCC mall, one of the top shopping destinations in Southeast Asia, before heading back to Kampung Baru for more local food at a massive restaurant. Kampung Baru remains one of the last areas in central KL to retain its traditional Malay village identity, and it’s full of culture, street food, and community.

Malaysia truly gives you a lifestyle that is comforting, affordable, halal-friendly, and community-focused. Whether it’s the food, the people, or the culture, there are so many reasons why moving to Malaysia (pindah ke Malaysia) feels like the future. Every time I visit, I fall more in love with this city and its people.

If you enjoy Malaysia vlogs, Kuala Lumpur travel, halal food, Muslim travel, and expat life in Southeast Asia, make sure to subscribe because one day I will call this place home.
Terima kasih Malaysia, I’ll be back soon ❤️🇲🇾
