Was Jesus trying to get Israel to be more righteous in order to earn their way into heaven? It should absolutely grieve us that this is what many Christians believe and it's called "works righteousness". Jesus was actually doing something here that was completely different to what most Christians think. And when you understand it, you will see how incredible it is!
