Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are one of the most common conditions presenting in primary care [1,2]. They are the source of just over half (51.2%) of Escherichia coli bloodstream infection (ECBSI) cases in English hospitals [3,4].
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a major threat to public health in the UK and globally. Improved diagnosis and management of UTIs can help reduce AMR [5,6].
The TARGET Antibiotics Toolkit draws upon behavioural science theory and the latest national UTI management guidance to develop tools and resources to support the management of UTI across the care pathway. This includes resources designed to discuss UTI with patients, enhance shared decision-making and highlight self-care and safety netting advice. Using a series of clinical scenarios, this webinar details how to use national guidance and resources to manage patients with suspected UTI. It will also highlight how you can use the TARGET toolkit and other resources to promote antimicrobial stewardship around UTI in your practice.
