The Kenko Spacia 100C is one among many possible varieties of Catadioptric Cassegrain telescopes. This particular design involves an assembly of lenses buried in the baffle tube. It is an unusually fast telescope for a Cassegrain at f/8 and has a very large central obstruction.
Despite all the compromises this particular example functions well. I don’t think I will recommend this type of scope to others, though. There are too many possible problems. The scope also suffers from a very cheap and nearly useless finder, which is a substantial negative for a scope with 800mm of focal length.
The mount is as cute as can be, though and is, to me, worth the price I paid. I am a sucker for a pretty mount! Unfortunately they put it on the flimsiest tripod I have ever seen! Luckily the mount has a 1/4 -20 socket so it’s a simple matter to put the it on something more stable.
