1980, “A Celebration of Angus L. Bowmer;” a Festival Noon event held in Carpenter Hall. Hosted by Peggy Rubin, and also including Rex Rabold, Bruce T. Gooch, Philip Davidson, and James Edmondson.
This is a touching tribute to the power of Angus Bowmer to move people, and inspire them to their own greatness.
Rex and Bruce do a scene from “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead;” the last production directed by Angus L. Bowmer in the then-new Angus Bowmer Theatre. (13 minutes)
Phil Davidson on ‘conferring with Angus as a director’ when he directed ‘the Scottish play.’ (4 minutes)
Rex and Peggy do James Thurber’s ‘The Macbeth Murder Mystery.” (7 minutes)
Jim Edmondson shares memories of Angus doing ‘Our Town’ in Portland for a group of ad men in support of the School Visit Program, and other moments. (7 minutes)
Bruce does a reading from “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead.” (2 minutes)
Phil talks about seeing Angus do Shylock in rehearsal in 1970, before having to abandon the role due to ill health. (3 minutes)
At the 38 minute mark, the audio dropped out completely, so the end of the program is not provided here.
