Описание: MEET OUR SPEAKERS – We know that the status and distribution of wild animal populations throughout the world is of growing concern for biologists and the public alike. Habitat loss, fragmentation and degradation, human persecution, decreases in prey, disease, poaching, and increased competition with domestic animals due to reduced space and habitat, have led to some wild animal species facing extinction, while others occupy only a fraction of their former range. While reintroductions of some species have been successful, other species face an uncertain future. Paramount to some wild animal populations recovery, reintroduction, or management, is acquiring accurate information regarding the status of a species, or a particular population. Reliable methods that provide accurate data on the distribution, abundance, and population trend of a species are required. Dr. Wronski is a conservation scientist and behavioural ecologist primarily interested in the ecology, evolution and conservation of ungulates, particularly with regard to captive breeding and reintroductions. Join us on this journey with Dr. Wronski to understand the methods of wild animal population estimations and the different census techniques available which can assist nature conservation experts to take the best decisions when managing different ecosystems and their wild animal populations.
