Описание: In this video you can enjoy the cab ride - train driver's view between Ploče, a port town in Croatia and Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina along the Sarajevo - Ploče Railway in 4K/60 frames per second.

The Sarajevo- Ploče railway will give you tons of emotions thanks to the breathtaking scenery it passes through and will make you marvel at the engineering genius of fellow men. This beautiful railway stretching 194 km is the oldest in Bosnia and Herzegovina and was opened in 1891 in the so-called Bosnian gauge of 760 mm. Initially the line would run to the Croatian port of Metković and only in 1942 the section from Metković to Ploče was completed.

The railway runs through 27 stations, across 71 bridges and through 106 tunnels the longest of which is Jedrenje, 3239 meters long. Due to the challenging mountainous terrain of the region the railway frequently switch sides of the Neretva River (Emerald River) bringing to your view its great canyon, dams and viaducts. On its curvy way through the mountain passes of the Dinaric Alps the train reaches its highest point of 756 meters in Bradina.

While there are numerous places along the rail that a curious travellers would like to see, I will mention only the destroyed railway bridge in Jablanica whose debris are still lying unremoved half-emerged in the Neretva. The original “fish belly” bridge was destroyed by the Nazis and the second time it was blown while shooting a film about a battle on the Neretva.

The part from Sarajevo to Mostar, running 117 km, was listed among the world’s best rail journey by the Guardian in 2018. “This is a great train bargain, with rugged scenery, especially along the Neretva River, while the road sticks to the valley, the train climbs over the mountains, with viaducts, switchbacks and tunnels”, wrote the newspaper.

Each of these stops offers unique experience, whether you are interested in history, architecture or natural beauty.
After being suspended for 9 years, the passenger traffic was reopened again in June 2024 and the train is scheduled to run until September 1 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
