Friday Night Funkin' (abbreviated FNF ) is a rhythm video game released on October 5, 2020, developed by a group of people called The Funkin' Crew, consisting of Canadian programmer Cameron Taylor, also known as Ninjamuffin99; artist David Brown, also known as PhantomArcade; and musician Isaac Jacob Garcia, known as Kawai Sprite. It was released on Newgrounds and Itch.io. The game features gameplay mechanics similar to Rock Band , Guitar Hero , Dance Dance Revolution , StepMania , osu!, and PaRappa the Rapper , and an aesthetic reminiscent of Flash games popular in the early to mid-2000s.
The main character, Boyfriend, has a romantic relationship with Girlfriend, which is not approved by their parents, Daddy Dearest and Mommy Mearest, with music being the only way to gain their trust.
The levels in this game are called "Weeks," since each match takes place on a different Friday, except for weekends ( WeekEnds ). Each week typically has its own stage, opponent, and distinctive music. The game's weeks, with their respective names, are as follows:
Tutorial: Teaching Time : This is a rap battle between Boyfriend and Girlfriend, serving as an introduction to the game. Girlfriend, instead of singing like the other characters, will use her voice to indicate the direction of each arrow.
